Tonight's Topic: "The ABEL Prize -- 2015"
ANSWERS = [ B - B - B ]
Good morning/evening, everybody! Thank you for joining us last night.
We hope you discovered something interesting during the time we spent together on the Insomniac Net last night.
Thanks to you all for playing along -- it was a lot of FUN for us. Hopefully, you had fun too!

The ABEL Prize is named after the early 19th century mathematician, Niels Henrik Abel (1802-1829).
When he died, at the age of only 26, Abel left a large body of work, including the first proof of the general binomial theorem (which had been stated by Newton and Euler).
(And in case you're wondering, LW's Family Tree does not include either Niels Henrick Abel or the German composer, Carl Friedrich Abel -- dun-dun-dah-d'oh!)
So, for tonight, our three questions concern this international mathematics award -- worth about 750,000 Euro (US$ 816,787.50).
Ergo, how much do you know about... The ABEL Prize -- 2015?
Please choose from any of the 3 (reuseable) answers of "A", "B", or "C" (if applicable!) for each question listed below.
Good Luck and remember, YOU are always a WINNER with us, regardless of your actual answers!
(Alas, no ABEL Prizes will be awarded tonight!)

C. Stockholm, Sweden
"The Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters has decided to award the
Abel Prize for 2015 to the American mathematicians John F. Nash, Jr. and
Louis Nirenberg “for striking and seminal contributions to the theory
of nonlinear partial differential equations and its applications to
geometric analysis.” The President of the Academy, Kirsti Strøm Bull,
announced the new laureates today 25 March. They will receive the Abel
Prize from His Majesty King Harald at a ceremony in Oslo on 19 May."

C. The Life of Pi (2012)
"'Beautiful mind' John Nash adds Abel Prize to his Nobel:
Mathematician made famous by Hollywood will share US$765,000 award with Louis Nirenberg for work in the field of geometric analysis.
Although some consider the Abel Prize to be the 'Nobel of mathematics', its winners are hardly ever household names.
But this year's prize, announced on 25 March, includes a notable exception:

++ QUOTE OF THE DAY ++ -- from Mario Livio's The Equation That Couldn't Be Solved (p. 90):
"What can you say about a twenty-six-year-old boy who died? That he was shy, and a genius, that he loved mathematics and the theater. And he was condemned to death by poverty."
