Tonight's Topic: "There's A RED Moon Out Tonight (Again)"
Good morning/evening, everybody! Thank you for joining us tonight.
We hope you'll discover something interesting during the time we spend together on the Insomniac Net for the next 90+ minutes.
-- The ever-delightful Shelley [KF7TBA] and just plain old LW [K7LWA] (email K7LWA.INS@gmail.com).
(Please Note: The Net Controller's Answers are always CORRECT (even if they aren't every time!)

For tonight's Net (our 14th of 2015), Shelley and LW want to alert you about a terrific celestrial show scheduled to start in about 3 hours at 9:01 AM UTC.
This event is a TOTAL Lunar Eclipse (during which the full moon will turn a bright orange-red color, often known as a "Blood Moon"), and which should be visible for many of us* on the Check-In List tonight!
(NOTE: a total lunar eclipse occurs when the earth's shadow completely covers the moon. This period of coverage is called Totality.)
As part of the 2014-2015 lunar tetrad, this eclipse is the third in a series of four total lunar eclipses in a row.**
The first two eclipses of the tetrad took place in 2014, while the last eclipse will be on September 28, 2015.
(LW remembers seeing his first "Blood Moon" during the early AM hours of March 13, 1960 back in Hershey, PA when he was 9-years old.)
So, before the eclipse starts, how much do you know about Total Lunar Eclipses and Lunar Tetrads?
Please give us your best answers for each of the following 3 TRUE or FALSE questions, by using the (reuseable) answers of "A"=TRUE or "B"=FALSE.
Good Luck and remember, YOU are always a WINNER with us, regardless of your actual answers!
++ There's A RED Moon Out Tonight (Again)" ++
Question #1: The 21st century will have 8 lunar tetrads**. Eight is the maximum number of lunar tetrads that can occur in a century -- True or False? A. True, or
B. False.
Question #2: In fact, the last time this happened (i.e., 8 lunar tetrads in a century) was in the 9th century -- True or False?
A. True, or
B. False.
Question #3: With a totality lasting only for 4 minutes and 43 seconds, this upcoming total lunar eclipse will be this century's shortest -- True or False?
A. True, or
B. False.

*Regions seeing at least some parts of the eclipse: Much of Asia, Australia, Much of North America, Much of South America, Pacific, Atlantic, Indian Ocean, Arctic, Antarctica.
Each of the eclipses in the tetrad is visible from all or many locations in the United States, weather permitting.
People on the west coast of the U.S. will have some of the best views of the April 4, 2015 Total Lunar Eclipse.
Some locations (like U.S. east coast), however, may not be able to see the last stages of the Eclipse because they will happen after Moonset.
**What is a tetrad? It’s four successive total lunar eclipses, with no partial lunar eclipses in between, each of which is separated from the other by six lunar months (six full moons)

++ QUOTE(s) OF THE DAY ++ -- from Van Morrison's Moondance (peaked at #39 on the Pop Singles chart in 1977 -- more info):
Well, it's a marvelous night for a Moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush
[Chorus:]
Can I just have one a' more Moondance with you, my love
Can I just make some more romance with a-you, my love

++ And Did You Know...? (with a Radio Wave to Big Al) ++
Often, LW will try to find a song to use as the ++ Quote of the Day ++ that is somehow related to the current Net's topic.
For tonight's Net, two songs immediately came to mind:
The Capris' There's A Moon Out Tonight and Van Morrison's Moondance.
The Capris song was used as the Quote last year for the April 11, 2014 net:
2014[15]Q -- Ins-Net Questions for Apr 11, 2014_Mixed Bag -- #10: There's A Moon Out Tonight
from The Capris' There's A Moon Out Tonight (peaked at Billboard position # 3 in 1961)
“There's a (moon out tonight) whoa-oh-oh ooh
Let's go strollin'
There's a (girl in my heart) whoa-oh-oh ooh
Whose heart I've stolen
There's a moon out tonight (whoa-oh-oh ooh)
Let's go strollin' through the park (ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh)”

However, you may see Moondance lyrics again around the next Total Lunar Eclipse (October 8, 2014).
