For tonight's Net, we have selected 3 Trivia questions that have something to do with 2014 NOT being a LEAP YEAR!
So how much do you know -- or don't know -- about LEAP YEARs?
Please give us your best answers from any of the 3 (reuseable) answers of "A", "B", or "C" (if applicable!) for each question.

++ "Mixed Bag of 3 Trivia Questions -- #06: Jumping LEAP YEAR!" ++
Question #1: How can you determine which year will be a LEAP YEAR?
        A. The year must be an even-numbered year and can be divided by the number 2, or
        B. The year must be an even-numbered year and can be divided by the number 4, or
        C. The year must be an even-numbered year and can be divided by the number π ("pi" or 3.1416+)
In the Gregorian calendar 3 criteria must be taken into account to identify leap years:
The year is evenly divisible by 4;

If the year can be evenly divided by 100, it is NOT a leap year, unless;
The year is also evenly divisible by 400. Then it is a leap year.
This means that 2000 and 2400 are leap years, while 1800, 1900210022002300 and 2500 are NOT leap years.(1)
Question #2: During a LEAP YEAR, which (intercalary) day is added to make a standard year into a LEAP YEAR?
        A. February 29th, or
        B. February 30th, or
        C. August 31st.
2a: Leap Day is February 29, which is an extra (intercalary) day added during a Leap Year, making the year 366 days long – and not 365 days, like a common (normal) year.
Nearly every 4 years is a Leap Year in our modern
Gregorian Calendar. (2a)
2b: February 30 was a real date at one point in time in Sweden and the Soviet Union.
However, the introduction of this date was temporary.
In Sweden, February 30 resulted from an error with calendar conversion in the 18th century.
About two centuries later, the Soviet revolutionary calendar featured February 30 as a result of an attempt to cut seven-day weeks into five-day weeks and to introduce 30-day months for every working month.
(2b)
Question #3: Having your Birthday on a major holiday (e.g., Christmas) is usually a bummer because your holiday and birthday presents may be given on just one day. However, it could be worse by having a LEAP YEAR birthday! According to official records, what's the largest number of LEAP YEAR children born consecutively within a single family?
        A. 2, or
        B. 3, or
        C. 4
A Norwegian family named Henriksen from Andenes holds the official record of number of children born on February 29.  Mrs. Karin Henriksen gave birth to 3 children on consecutive February 29; her daughter Heidi in 1960 and her sons Olav and Leif-Martin in 1964 and 1968 respectively.
According to the Guinness Book of Records, the only verified example of a family producing three consecutive generations born on February 29 is that of the Keogh family.
Peter Anthony was born in Ireland on February 29, 1940, while his son Peter Eric was born on the Leap Day in the United Kingdom (UK) in 1964.
His daughter, Bethany Wealth, was, in turn, born in the UK on February 29, 1996.

"As for Sadie Hawkins, she hit the U.S. pop cultural shores back in 1937, when Sadie Hawkins Day was introduced in pen and ink in Al Capp’s classic comic strip Li’l Abner. In the comic, Sadie Hawkins was a spinster at the age of 35, so her father set up a race for local bachelors. Whoever Sadie caught was going to be her husband. The town, and the reading audience, loved the idea and the race became an annual fixture of the comic strip, and soon spread into real-life society, spawning Sadie Hawkins Day dances."

For tonight's Net, we have selected 3 Trivia questions that have something to do with the impacts left by 3 people or events that occurred on this day -- February 21st -- in history.
Can you put a Big "X" by those correct answers for tonight's Questions?

Please give us your best answers from any of the 3 (reuseable) answers of "A", "B", or "C" (if applicable!) for each question.

      ++ "Mixed Bag of 3 Trivia Questions -- #05: X marks the spot" ++
Question #1: Born in 1925 into the Little family, this man became an outspoken African-American nationalist and religious leader. On this day in 1965, he was assassinated while giving a speech at a New York City ballroom. What was his name?
        A. Malcolm S. Hershey, or
        B. Malcolm X, or
        C.
Malcolm Forbes

In New York City, Malcolm X, an African American nationalist and religious leader, is assassinated by rival Black Muslims while addressing his Organization of Afro-American Unity at the Audubon Ballroom in Washington Heights. On February 21, 1965, one week after his home was firebombed, Malcolm X was shot to death by Nation of Islam members while speaking at a rally of his organization in New York City. (1)

Question #2: On many historians' calendars, February 21 has a Big "X" marked by the name of this Battle -- which is considered to have been the longest, continuous battle ever fought*. It began on February 21st and lasted through December 19th, with over 700,000 casualities. What is the name of this Battle?
        A. Battle of Walterloo, 1815, or
        B. Battle of Gettysburg, 1863, or
        C. Battle of Verdun, 1916

LW's NOTE: Depending upon which sources you use and which definitions used for "Battle", some historians disagree that Verdun was the longest, continuous battle ever fought -- while other historians assert that Verdun, indeed, was the longest, continuous battle ever fought during War World I and in all history.(see 2b below)
--------------
At 7:12 a.m. on the morning of February 21, 1916, a shot from a German Krupp 38-centimeter long-barreled gun—one of over 1,200 such weapons set to bombard French forces along a 20-kilometer front stretching across the Meuse River—strikes a cathedral in Verdun, France, beginning the Battle of Verdun, which would stretch on for 10 months and become the longest conflict of World War I.
On December 18, Hindenburg finally called a stop to the German attacks after ten long months. With a German death toll of 143,000 (out of 337,000 total casualties) and a French one of 162,440 (out of 377,231), Verdun would come to signify, more than any other battle, the grinding, bloody nature of warfare on the Western Front during World War I. (2a)
--------------
Few stretches of land in Western Europe are as blood soaked as the Verdun battlefield, where 80 years ago 700,000 to 800,000 Frenchmen and Germans were killed, wounded or captured in perhaps the most terrible battle of the Great War.
Extending from 21 February to 15 December 1916, it is the longest battle history has ever known.* (2b)

Question #3: Some of these same historians also think that "the most influential political phamphlet in history" was published in England on February 21st by this man and his buddy, Fred. What was his name?
        A. Harpo Marx, or
        B. Karl Marx, or
        C. Malcolm Marx
On February 21, 1848, The Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx with the assistance of Friedrich Engels, is published in London by a group of German-born revolutionary socialists known as the Communist League.
The political pamphlet--arguably the most influential in history--proclaimed that "the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles" and that the inevitable victory of the proletariat, or working class, would put an end to class society forever.
Originally published in German as Manifest der Kommunistischen Partei ("Manifesto of the Communist Party"), the work had little immediate impact.
Its ideas, however, reverberated with increasing force into the 20th century, and by 1950 nearly half the world's population lived under Marxist governments (3)
