So, there I was last weekend, kicking back from the Total Solar Eclipse 2017 Tour, quietly sipping the last of the Roadie Mai-Tai stash.
(Shelley was out visiting and having at a fabulous luncheon with several of her girlfriends.)
Then suddenly, as I was content-surfing, I paused on the C-SPAN Book TV channel and noticed good ole Tom Friedman had a new book out: Thank You for Being Late.
I had last listened to one of his books in 2004 -- something about the world becoming flater and flater or some such stuff about globalization going global.
So what was he on about this time?
Oh, something about our need to understand that our planet’s three largest forces (the "3 Big Ms") are accelerating all at once!
So, excitely, we offer for your approval, 3 questions about Friedman's 3 BIG Ms!?
Please choose your answers from any of the 3 (reuseable) answers of "A", "B", or "C" (if applicable!) for each of the following question
Good Luck and remember, YOU are always a WINNER with us, regardless of your actual answers!
OK, before we start, let's just take a PAUSE -- which is what Friedman thinks we should do before the world accelerates all over us...

++ The 3 BIG Ms! ++
Question #1: Friedman believes that our planet’s three largest accelerating forces are Moore’s law (technology), the Market (globalization), and Mother Nature (climate change and biodiversity loss). True or False?
        A. True, or
        B. False.
"His thesis: to understand the twenty-first century, you need to understand that the planet’s three largest forces—Moore’s law (technology), the Market (globalization), and Mother Nature (climate change and biodiversity loss)—are accelerating all at once."

Question #2: He also believes these accelerations are transforming five key personal (and global) areas. What are these areas?
        A. Neighorhood entertainment, social media, group recreation, online selling/shopping, and creative vacationing, or
        B. Self-discovery, self-marketing, self-medication, worldwide web self-presence, and self-cyber-fantasies, or
        C. The workplace, politics, geopolitics, ethics, and community.

Question #3: What has caused this shift? He traces it back to a major Inflection Point year when the the iPhone was launched, Facebook and Twitter went global, Kindle and Android were released, Google bought YouTube, and fracking began. What year was that?
        A. 2001, or
        B. 2007, or
        C. 2011.
"When he began researching his latest book, best-selling author Thomas Friedman started noticing something about the year 2007.
Most notably, it was the year Apple launched the iPhone, and most notoriously, the year before the worst economic collapse since the Great Depression.
Also in 2007, Facebook and Twitter went global; Kindle and Android were released; Airbnb was founded; Google bought YouTube; IBM created its artificial intelligence system Watson, and fracking began, Friedman noted in an interview on CNBC's Squawk Box."

++ QUOTE OF THE DAY ++   --  Thomas L. Friedman, Thank You for Being Late: An Optimist's Guide to Thriving in the Age of Accelerations
“Marie Curie never rang more true to me or felt more relevant: 'Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.'”
“Indeed, as the world becomes more interdependent and complex, it becomes more vital than ever to widen your aperture and to synthesize more perspectives."
"LinkedIn was barely known and most people thought it was a prison...."
