Since this is our last Insomniac-Net together for this year, and before Guy Lombardo and the "The Royal Canadians" strike up Auld Lang Syne, we thought we would leave 2014 with a musical note, or two, or three (in the form of questions, that is).
However, before we can talk about the New
Year (which LW calls the "Ides
of the 2nd Millenium -- 20-15"), we must divulge what
happened the day before Christmas.
Every year, the ever-festive Shelley has the family invade come over for Christmas Dinner (15 this year); however, in getting the house ready before the gathering, LW happened to misplace last week's Late, Missed, and New list -- therefore, we will be using the same Call Roster from last week.
So, if you were New to our Friday night Net last week, our apologies for losing you in the wrapping paper; and please check in tonight at the end of our list or send us an email.
For
tonight's questions, can you guess or do you remember
what was the most popular music
just 50 years ago during the year of 1964?Every year, the ever-festive Shelley has the family invade come over for Christmas Dinner (15 this year); however, in getting the house ready before the gathering, LW happened to misplace last week's Late, Missed, and New list -- therefore, we will be using the same Call Roster from last week.

To make it easier (yeah, sure!) we are asking about that Old Tymie Music of 1964 -- based on Billboard's Hot 100 Listings?
Accordingly, please choose your answers from any of the 3 (reuseable) answers of "A", "B", or "C" (if applicable!) for each question.
So how much do you know about that Old Tymie Music of 1964?

A. Everybody Loves Somebody, or
B. Do Wah Diddy Diddy, or
C. Ringo.
Actor Lorne Greene
enjoyed a brief recording career in the mid-'60s, when he was at the
height of his popularity thanks to his
role as Ben Cartwright on the long-running Western series Bonanza.
He won the role of Ben Cartwright in 1959, playing the Ponderosa Ranch's patriarch until Bonanza finally went off the air in 1973.
In the meantime, NBC, hoping to capitalize on the series' popularity, brought several cast members into the recording studio.
Greene released his first album in 1963, and the following year he scored a surprise number one smash with "Ringo," a Western story song he narrated rather than sang.
Greene charted a couple more times with 1965's "The Man" and 1966's "Waco," and released a total of five albums on RCA Victor from 1963-1966.
Afterwards, he returned to acting full-time, most notably appearing in the TV miniseries Roots and starring in the sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, as well as narrating numerous documentaries.
Just before he was scheduled to reprise his Bonanza role for a TV-movie reunion, Greene died of complications from surgery on September 11, 1987. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
