I remember... (personally):
Back in the old days (1950s, 60s, early 70s?), an amorous boy who tried to get "physical" with his date by touching or caressing her (without her permission) would often be identified as a "Fast" boy with "Roman (i.e., roaming) Hands" and "Russian (i.e., rushing) Fingers".
Everybody knew that the "Good Girls" stayed away those "Fast Boys" -- end of story!
Yet sometimes, a boy and a girl would date for a long time before the girl even allowed her boyfriend to kiss her goodnight -- let alone to "go (physically) further".
A serious couple might engage in more physical, initmate actions like French (Tongue) Kissing, caressing each other (often called "petting"), etc.
I remember my Dad discussing with me what was "proper" dating expectations and behaviors -- basically, always act like a Gentleman.
I even remember watching Jr. High School "Health" films which depicted socially "proper" Young Adult dating behaviors and activities; however,
