In 1985, college student Sean J. Connolly coined the phrase "Jumping the Shark" while watching the 1977 "Happy Days" episode in which supercool Fonzie (in an effort to pull up the show's ratings) strapped on water skis, went up a ramp and jumped a "live" shark. [LINK to YouTube Video below]
"Jumping the Shark" is the moment when an established long-running series changes in a significant manner in an attempt to stay fresh.
(How many of you remember watching the TV series DALLAS -- when Bobby (Patrick Duffy) dies -- only to find him alive in the shower the next season (Pam’s Dream 10.1)?)
Twelve years later, Connolly's roommate, Jon Hein created the jumptheshark.com website for viewers to vote and comment on nearly 2,500 programs that they felt had "jumped".
(NOTE: Hein sold his site to Gemstar (the owners of TV Guide) in 2006 for "over $1 million".)
Of course, these days, "Jumping the Shark" not only applies to TV, but also music, film, and even everyday life.
For example: "Did you see her boyfriend? She definitely jumped the shark."
So, accordingly, how much do you know about "Jumping the Shark" (JTS)?
Please choose from any of the 3 (reuseable) answers of "A" through "H", "B" or "C" (if applicable!) for each questions listed below.
Good Luck and remember YOU are always a WINNER with us, regardless of your actual answers!
OK, Let get jumping!

#2: Patterned after "Jumping the Shark"

Magazine's Top 10 Buzzwords of 2008, which of the
following means

A. "Nuke the Fridge", or
B. "Bone the Fish", or (see: [Bone The Fish - What Happened to JTS? Jump the Shark?])
C. "Plunk Your Magic Twanger, Froggy!"
New-word maven Grant Barrett, editor of the respected language site doubletongued.org,
suggested this buzzword for our list. (And to all those grammar
pedants: please note that "buzzword" applies to voguish words as well as
phrases.)
To "nuke the fridge" means to exhaust a Hollywood franchise with disappointing sequels.
It was coined after a ludicrous scene in the latest Indiana Jones installment in which the hero climbs into a refrigerator and somehow survives a nuclear explosion.
The term is patterned after "jump the shark," which comes from the 91st episode of Happy Days — in which Fonzie jumps over a shark tank while water-skiing in a leather jacket — and now denotes the point at which something trendy starts to really suck.

A. Ted McGinley,
B. Betty White, or
C. David Hasselhoff
Ted is the patron saint of shark jumping.
Chances are that if Ted is anywhere near your cast, consider the show on the downward spiral.
That's not to take away from Ted's fine acting skills.
Consensus here enjoys Ted more on the big screen (Revenge of the Nerds) than on our sets.
Then again, we wouldn't have a patron saint...thanks Ted!
