++ "It's TorF Trivia (WorM)" ++
Question #1: Research shows women see colors better than men  -- True or False?

        A. True, or
        B. False.
        B. False.
"Stereotypes about the superior color sense of women may well be rooted in genetics. Brian Verrelli, a researcher at the Biodesign Institute at ASU, is co-collaborator on a study suggesting that natural genetic selection has provided women with a frequent ability to better discriminate between colors than men."

Question #2: Boys have more taste buds than girls  -- True or False?
        A. True, or
        B. False.

"Women have more fungiform papillae and more taste buds than men and, according to most studies, are able to detect lower concentrations of PROP and are more likely to be supertasters."

What about sense of taste?
Date: December 18, 2008 Source: University of Copenhagen Summary: The findings of the world's largest study so far on the ability of children and young people to taste and what they like have now been published. Findings include:
girls have a better sense of taste than boys.... [SOURCE: Girls Have Superior Sense Of Taste To Boys]
Question #3: In the U.S. and Canada, women smile significantly more than men do -- True or False?
        A. True, or
        B. False.
Sex Differences in Smiling
Numerous studies have established that women smile more often than men (Burgoon, Buller, & Woodall, 1989; Hall, 1984; Hall & Halberstadt, 1986; Haviland, 1977).
A recent meta-analysis of over 160 studies also supported this finding (LaFrance, Hecht, & Levy Paluck, 2003).
The size of the sex difference was found to be contingent on several factors including the social situation, participant role, and whether or not the person was being observed.
Social expectations seem to dictate that women smile more than men (LaFrance & Hecht, 1999).

        A. True, or
        B. False.

*Monday -- Feb 23: FACT: All bananas contain high levels of potassim-40, a radioactive isotope of potassium, so eating more than 50 bananas a day could be lethal.
Question #2: The edible oyster has a brain, but no head  -- True or False?
        A. True, or
        B. False.
*Monday -- Mar 30: CRAP: Even if an oyster had a brain, where would they put it? Oysters are headless!

++ QUOTE OF THE DAY ++  --  George Berkeley:
"I had rather be an oyster than a man, the most stupid and senseless of animals.”
[SOURCE: The 2nd drunk at the end of the bar drinking oyster shooters]

“As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy and to make plans.”
 -- Ernest Hemingway
“Eating a raw oyster is like French kissing a mermaid”
-- Tom Robbins
